PYP Module 4 Reflection

 Through this workshop, I have selected three key PYP teacher capabilities to focus on developing in my classroom and school. These include integrating transdisciplinary and disciplinary concepts, knowledge, and skills to create a coherent and connected learning experience for students, establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships that support the wellbeing of the learning community, and situating learning in global contexts to help students understand human commonalities through transdisciplinary themes. Success in these areas will involve students demonstrating the ability to connect concepts across disciplines, cultivating a classroom and school culture grounded in trust and collaboration, and engaging learners with real-world global challenges that inspire action. To continue my growth, I will collaborate with colleagues to design integrated units of inquiry, incorporate global issues into learning experiences, and reflect regularly on my practices using student and peer feedback. Evidence of my development will include artifacts of student work that showcase transdisciplinary connections, feedback from the learning community, and examples of student-initiated actions addressing global challenges.

Reflecting on the workshop, agency has been both supported and nurtured by encouraging ownership of professional growth and providing strategies to empower students in their learning. My understanding of PYP principles and practices has evolved to appreciate the deeper connections between transdisciplinary learning, collaboration, and global contexts in fostering critical thinking and international-mindedness. Moving forward, I plan to apply these insights by designing inquiry-based units that integrate disciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches, fostering collaborative relationships within the school community, and situating learning in authentic global contexts to inspire meaningful action. This holistic approach will enable me to grow as a PYP educator while supporting students in becoming compassionate and engaged global citizens.
